Mike Adair

Artist and one of the voices of hoops&yoyo

Mike Adair

Where are you originally from?
Southern California

What do you do at Hallmark?
I’m a Master Artist working with character development and animation. {Bob Holt (left) and Mike Adair (right) are the creators and voices of hoops&yoyo.}

The three words that best describe you:
dad, curious, forgetful

What inspires you?
Film – animation – watching people – my family.

How does your job make you feel?
Excited and nervous. Both necessary ingredients for a worthwhile creative endeavor.

How does your own personality affect what you create?
I work from the concept that people will spend their money on things that ring true. They can tell if you had fun making it. It’s authentic when you put yourself in your work.

My creativity is due to:
LOTS of cartoon watching when I was young and waffles.

My goal each day is to:
Well, on Wednesdays it’s to remember to pick up my daughter from dance class. Can I get back to you on the other days?

What is your vice?
Movies and candy.

What makes you laugh?
Christopher Guest movies, my kids, The Onion.

What makes you cry?
When people help strangers.

What is your greatest talent?
I’m not “great” at it, but I really like being a dad. All the jokes are new and you can really screw up at performing magic tricks and still amaze your audience.

Which living person would you most like to meet?
I’d like to have lunch with Pete Docter, John Lassiter and Andrew Stanton. My treat.

Who would you want to play you in the movie about your life?
Paul Giamatti. Hey, he pulled off John Adams and he’s bald.

What is your personal motto?
Don’t forget to pick up Ilene from dance class on Wednesdays.
