Hallmark Cards, Inc. Named a 2009 Working Mother 100 Best Company
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 22, 2009) — Hallmark Cards, Inc. has been named among the 2009 Working Mother 100 Best Companies by Working Mother magazine for its dedication to family-friendly benefits. With this year’s honor, Hallmark also enters the Working Mother Hall of Fame, which highlights companies named to the 100 Best at least 15 times since the list debuted in 1986.
Companies were selected for the 2009 Working Mother 100 Best Companies based on an extensive application with more than 500 questions on workforce, compensation, benefits, women’s issues and advancement, child care, flexible work, parental leave, and company culture. The application also surveys the usage, availability and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them.
The magazine’s scorecard cited Hallmark’s strengths in the areas of family-friendly programs, flexible schedules, strong health care benefits, and generous parental leave policies. Programs such as the Hallmark Health wellness program, elder care assistance, tuition reimbursement, and adoption assistance also helped place Hallmark on the list.
“This recognition honors the kind of employee-centered culture Hallmark has been known for since the company was founded,” said Christine Rankin, corporate services manager for Hallmark. “But our employee programs have never been about achieving a place on a list. They are about attracting and retaining the best people and making it possible for them to do their best work. More than anything, this honor validates that our programs are meaningful and on the right track.”
Profiles of the 100 Best Companies are in the October issue of Working Mother and at workingmother.com/bestcompanies.
