Charitable Giving

People filling Harvesters boxesHallmark employees contribute food and volunteer time to support Harvesters, a Kansas City area food bank.

We believe the well-being of our communities has a direct effect on Hallmark's success and that of our employees and fellow citizens. So we take our mission to enrich lives beyond our products and into the communities we call home.

Charitable contributions come from the profits of Hallmark Cards, Inc. and from the Hallmark Corporate Foundation, an endowed foundation funded solely by Hallmark.

Funding decisions are guided by a philanthropic vision based in the belief that people's lives are enriched through caring connections, that gifts should demonstrate empathy and caring, and that:

  • All children deserve the chance to grow up as healthy and productive persons;
  • Vibrant arts and cultural experiences enrich the lives of all citizens;
  • Communities need a strong infrastructure of basic institutions and services, especially for people in need.

Most contributions go to organizations providing services in metropolitan Kansas City and other communities where Hallmark facilities are located. Decision-making is decentralized. We believe employees who live in these communities are best able to assess the needs in their areas – guided by our corporate vision – and determine Hallmark's response.

Detailed information about the contribution application process and geographic requirements is outlined in our Community Involvement Program Guidelines, and examples of programs we supported last year are outlined in the Report on Charitable Giving.
